Traisental Valley: Cycling and wine region

Merkliste aufrufen merken

Discover the wine region near river Danube.

The Traisental as part of the Mostviertel region is a beautiful wine region. Young and still looking back on ancient traditions. Picturesque sceneries: small terrace vineyards compete with wide open spaces, where fruit trees and vegetables grow. In between are villages, vantage points and cultural treasures like the Abbey Herzogenburg. Cycling routes enable you to explore the region. Comfortable Heurigen taverns invite you for a cosy stop.

A secret tip are the special wine tastings in the cellars and the well-known wine tastings that have to be planned for when visiting our region.

Stroll along the vineyards and orchards, enjoy the open view over the Traisental valley and into the alpine upland, and taste regional specialities at the many farms and Heurigen taverns.

Especially in autumn, a bicycle tour along the river Traisen or through the vineyards can be combined with a visit to one of the many "wine autumn events".

Discover the Traisental valley with all its facets and colours: Cycle along the Traisental cycling route. It leads you 111 km from Traismauer, situated at the Danube river, via Herzogenburg to Mariazell in the south of Lower Austria.
All around, you will become enchanted by the changing nature of the Mostviertel region: From mild to wild, from the gently rolling hills south of the Danube up to the impressive mountain tops of the Mostviertel Alps. Many inns and pensions, specially equipped to accommodate cyclists, invite you to enjoy refreshing drinks and typical regional snacks.

Feel free to stay in our comfy guest rooms which offer you the possibility to park your bike, too.
